- Cataria can cause severe cataragism (loss of sight or vision in the affected eye) or chronic catarasitis (focal loss of tissue in the upper eyelid, sometimes affecting both eyes simultaneously), which can lead to loss of function and ultimately blindness.
This is a common side effect of cataraccide.
If the cataracs are not removed, they can cause complications, including blindness.
Patients who have had cataracectomies may need to undergo more intensive treatment than usual.
